Description

Significant human rights abuses including genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang are ongoing in China, with global implications. As the State Department’s annual Human Rights Reports repeatedly document, there are widespread and credible reports of offenses ranging from genocide and grave human rights abuses to serious restrictions on freedom of expression and access to information; arbitrary arrest and detention; torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment; particularly severe violations of religious freedom; prohibitions of trade unions and systematic restrictions on workers’ freedom of association; and trafficking in persons, including forced labor.
